Keeneland was found by Jack Keene in 1935. It is a nonprofit racing and auction facility with 147 acres of land. Since 1936, horse races have been held at Keeneland. On October 11, 1936, more than 11,000 people had showed up for the parks open house. Keeneland does its best to maintain the tradition and history of the horse racing. This horse park was the last racing track to broadcast over a public address system. Throughout the years, Keeneland has breed and sold some of the biggest names in horse racing, such as Advancing Star, Caress, and Fat Fleet Feet.
Today the park has many things to do for all ages. There is a Paddock area where guest are invited to come and watch a new colt being trained. Visitors of Keeneland can come and explore the history of some of the horses that have been trained and breed there at Keeneland. You can also bring money to bid on a horse and see if you could win! Most families bring their children to enjoy ice cream and watch the horses race down the track. Keeneland is an amazing place to bring your family and friends!
