Johnny Depp
By Haley M.
John Christopher Depp II, nicknamed Johnny, was born on June 9th, 1963 in Owesboro, Kentucky. He later moved to Florida with his four siblings, his mother, Betty Sue Palmer, and his father John Christopher Depp I. The two divorced in 1978, when Johnny was 15, and his mother later married a man named Robert Palmer, who Johnny calls "an inspiration to me". When he was 12 his mother got him a guitar which inspired him to be in numerous garage bands, including The Kids, which was locally famous. When the band went to Los Angeles to pursue a record deal they split up before they got it. In 1983, Johnny married Lori Anne Allison, who introduced him to actor Nicolas Cage, who encouraged Depp to try acting.
Johnny's first major role was in the 1984 classic horror film A Nightmare on Elm Street, where he played the boyfriend of the heroin and one of Freddy Krueger's victims. Johnny went through a period of many failures, called "box office poison", but in 2003, a major success came with Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl. In 2005 another huge success came with Charlie in the Chocolate Factory, which earned him a Golden Globe nomination. Another interesting fact is that Johnny never watches his own movies after they are finished.
Johnny has been nominated for over 50 awards in his lifetime, and won over 35. He is currently working on upcoming movies like The Lone Ranger (2013), Trancendence (2014),and Pirates of the Caribbean 5 (2015). He currently has 2 children, daughter Lily-Rose Melody Depp (born 1999), and son John "Jack" Christopher Depp III (born 2002). He is not currently married. He also still works on some music that sometimes goes into his films.
