On January 31st, 1950 Harry Truman, the 33rd President of the United States, announces his decision for the development of the H-Bomb or the Hydrogen Bomb. This was because 5 months earlier, the U.S. lost its superiority when the Soviet Union detonated an Atomic Bomb, or A-Bomb for short, successfully. The first H-Bomb "Mike" was successfully detonated on November 1, 1952 two years after funding began for the H-Bomb. The explosion of Mike was also to be considered powerful because of the height of its mushroom cloud. A mushroom cloud is a cloud made up of debris and water vapor. Within the first 90 seconds the mushroom cloud climbed to 57,000 feet.
